This idea came with the industrialisation. and technology. In the 1900 they just discovered antibiotics, relativity, quantic mechanic, evolution and they believed that poverty would disapeer from Earth in a short time. I think that science is not against religeous beliefs. I believe that there is nothing in the science theories that can prove the non-existence of our God. Science actually does say why we want to live. The desire for staying alive is embedded in our brains and it’s what drives evolution. We seek ways to survive and the better we are at it the higher chance there is for us to genetically succeed in our offsprings. It’s called “natural selection” in science terms.

@ThinkingBetter , Science is great and useful, Science’s goal is to answer the question about HOW our world works. The Bible is the answer to the question WHY I am here. To put things in perspective, let’s say you have one month left to live. Science will not give you the answer why you should try to live your remaining days the best you can instead of committing suicide. Anyway you will die; The question is: is your life worth it?? And Jesus says YES I love you.
