Stories Inspiring Faith

posted by admin

Stories inspiring faith abound. But faith is a strange thing. It cannot be proven even by true, awe-inpiring stories. But the stories are like seeds – perhaps like the short video that shows how long it takes for a bamboo shoot to grow.

It is my hope that these stories will be inspiring to you, that you will ponder them, that you will allow them to penetrate into your heart and that you will allow faith to rise up inside of you.

When our middle son disappeared in Hawaii in 1999, we realized more than ever before that life was much more than this tangible stuff we touch, see, smell and breathe every day. The eternal part, the spiritual part of life became just as real to us as the material and tangible part.

One of the reasons for this blog is to share that faith and that reality with you. I have carefully chosen each video, each book, each entry in the hopes that these stories will be inspiring to you. I apologize ahead of time of something strange appears here. Rest assured that it will be edited out as soon as possible.

Most importantly, we wanted to share our story with you. You can click on the link in the sidebar to see more about it and purchase either the e-book version or the print version of our book, Aloha is Forever.

There is a story many years ago of an elementary teacher. Her name was Mrs. Thompson. And as she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children a lie. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. But that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard. Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he didnt play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. And Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mr. Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold Xs and then putting a big “F” at the top of his papers. ………
…………….
…………….
The story doesnt end there. You see, there was yet another letter that spring. Teddy said hed met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs. Thompson might agree to sit in the place at the wedding that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom.
Of course, Mrs. Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. And she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together.

They hugged each other, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompsons ear, “Thank you Mrs. Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference.”

Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She then said, “Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didnt know how to teach until I met you.”

There is a very beautiful saying, “A bad teacher complains; a good teacher explains; the best teacher inspires.”
Please remember that wherever you go, and whatever you do, you will have the opportunity to touch and/or change a person’s outlook. Please try to do it in a positive way.

Following are two paragraphs I have quoted from an article about the Dead Sea Scrolls. In this article is also an account of a proposed debate between a Christian and an agnostic. This story will inspire and strengthen the faith of anyone who truly has an open heart and is seeking the truth.

“In a day when Americans are looking for “change they can believe in,” both the written Word of God and the Living Word of God, Jesus Christ, provide that change. What’s disconcerting, however, is the nation seems to be looking everywhere for change except for where it really can and always has been found – in those teachings from the Bible that have been tested and tried in every generation and always found more than sufficient for life’s challenges.

“For the last six months, North Carolina’s Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh has been host to an exhibition of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The Dead Sea Scrolls are believed to be one of the greatest archaeological treasures to ever be discovered.”
